Flaxmere Library will be extending its opening hours from Monday 21 July, opening until 7.00pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
“Hastings District Council has formally signed off the proposal to extend Flaxmere Library hours two evenings a week,” says Henare O’Keefe, Flaxmere Ward Councillor.
Mr O’Keefe says the newly renovated library, situated in the Flaxmere Community Centre, has been well used by the community since reopening Saturday 29 March.
“The Library provides a great range of educational and leisure resources and it is important these be as accessible as possible to our community.”
Fellow Councillor Jacoby Poulain says these extended hours will be an advantage for local youth and families.
“The renovations increased the area of the youth section in Flaxmere Library and it provides a good environment for study as well as relaxation.”
“Flaxmere Library has a suite of internet computers and the library staff are available to help.”
Flaxmere Library is behind the Community Centre, off Swansea Road.
As part of the Hastings District Libraries, Flaxmere Library offers a full library service. There are now ten Internet computers available for public use.
