Volunteering Hawke's Bay

Are you keen to volunteer?  Bronwyn, Volunteering Hawkes Bay’s Community Liaison Coordinator, is in Hastings Library on Tuesdays between 2 and 4pm to chat about volunteering.  On the first Tuesday of the month Bronwyn will be in Flaxmere Library from 11am to 1pm.

Volunteering Hawkes Bay refers individuals to voluntary positions, offering over 140 volunteering opportunities with 75 organisations in HB. An opportunity to make a difference in the community, share and learn new skills, and meet new people.  Read more...

Unwanted mobile phone?

Auckland’s Starship children’s hospital is to benefit from the collection of unwanted mobile phones.

Bring your phone into Hastings, Havelock North or Flaxmere Library and look for the collection box.  The phones will be refurbished and then onsold, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Starship Hospital to fund care for sick children.  Read more...

NZ Post Book Awards for Children & Young Adults - Winners

The winners of the New Zealand Post Books Awards for Children & Young Adults have been announced.

A far from boring picture book by Vasanti Unka "The Boring Book" has won the prestigious New Zealand Post Margaret Mahy Book of the Year.  It also won the Picture Book category.
