Catching Up with Bakers Club

This week’s baking club theme was “Spice is nice”. We had two different spiced apple cakes, a delicious ginger crunch, gingerbread loaf, and a cake version of Belgium biscuits among other tasty treats. We had a new member join and another come along to chat just afterwards. 

As usual we had some of the latest cook books to peruse. And with this month's spicy theme, The Modern Spice Rack by Esther Clark was just right for the day. According to the blurb, this book is "an insightful guide to the most common spices in our cupboards, and offers up how to make the best use of them in delicious recipes."

We also each picked a mystery ingredient from a hat to include in next month’s baking … have you ever tried baking with sumac? Cardamom? Flowers? I can't wait to see what the group comes up with.
