Donating material to Hastings District Libraries Community Archive

Hastings District Libraries reserves the right to accept or reject any offers of donated material or loans in accordance with our collection policy.  Examples of factors considered when deciding whether to accept or decline material:

• Content: Does it fit with the Collection Development Policy? Are we the most appropriate institution to hold the material?
• Format: Are we the most appropriate institution to hold this type of material?
• Physical state: We are unable to accept items that may need conservation work.
• Size: Do we have adequate space to house the material?
• Legal ownership & copyright: Does the donor have the legal authority to donate the material?

If there are doubts about whether the material should be accepted, the Library identifies alternative institutions the donor could approach such as MTG Hawke’s Bay, Central Hawke's Bay Museum, Knowledge Bank or another Archive. Donations will not be accepted until the collection has been assessed. Where possible your items will be digitised and displayed on our local community archives platform Recollect.
