The Privacy Act 1993 seeks to provide better protection for individual privacy in relation to the collection, use, access, correction and disclosure of personal information held by any public and private sector "agency" - this includes the Hastings District Council.
Personal information may be collected only for a lawful purpose connected with a function or activity of the Council and only if necessary for that purpose. The Privacy Act applies to the Hastings District Council in its role as an agency. In compliance with The Privacy Act, the Hastings District Council holds certain information about ratepayers and residents of the district. This information is required for lawful purposes used in the functioning of the Hastings District Council and this information is sourced in accordance with Principle 2 of The Privacy Act.
Hastings District Council uses Google Analytics to help us improve our web services. Google Analytics gathers certain information about how you interact with our website - it does not seek to identify you personally, and your data is merged anonymously with many other users before it is reported.
You may make a request to the Council either orally or in writing, for access to personal information held by Hastings District Council.
