Come along and watch, cheer for your favourite turns of phrase, and experience spoken-word art in support of our rainbow community.

We'd love to hear your work, no matter your experience.

Poems don't have to be rainbow themed and can be about anything at all, but we definitely welcome relevant poems to help celebrate pride month.

Everyone is welcome to perform, no matter whether you are in the rainbow community, as long as every poet stands in solidarity with us and stands against hate and oppression.

You could even win a prize just for taking part!

If you are keen to have a go, or just want to find out more, drop us an email - sara@motifpoetry.co.nz. There are limited spots to slam so get in quick!

This is not a slam, so rules around performance are more relaxed. If you only have one poem to share, that’s fine. You can bring one or two poems, each three minutes or under. Poems should be your own original work, but you can share one poem by someone else if you clearly acknowledge the poet(s) who wrote it.

We like to keep things fair, and since our poets are given a random order before the start of the show, if you want to participate you have to be there before we start.

Props, costumes, and music are okay, as long as you’re ready to go when it’s your turn, and each poem is still under 3 minutes including any music. Reading your poem from a paper or phone is fine and don't forget the cardinal rule: don't be a dick.
