We invite everyone in our diverse community to join us in celebrating Punjabi Language Week, from 3 November to 9 November 2025.

This is a wonderful opportunity to embrace and celebrate the rich Punjabi language and culture, which adds to the vibrant multicultural fabric of our Hastings District. From henna sessions and Punjabi story time to hands-on makerspaces, there will be something for everyone across all three libraries. To kick off the celebrations, we will be hosting a lively cultural dance demonstration, followed by a tasting of delicious Indian sweets and chai.

Henna sessions: Please note that the henna sessions are reserved for females, in respect of cultural customs, and you can register for these through the links below.

Samosa making demonstration: Learn from the experts how to make mouthwatering, medium spiced samosas. Samosas are vegetarian and contain gluten. Suitable for 18+, register via the button below.

This week aligns perfectly with the Hastings District Council’s Multicultural Strategy and the Welcoming Communities Programme, which aim to create a sense of belonging for all people, regardless of their background. By participating in Punjabi Language Week, we not only celebrate a specific culture but also reaffirm our commitment to embracing diversity and fostering cross-cultural understanding within our district. With our growing and diverse ethnic community, this celebration is a meaningful way to share in the traditions and stories that make up the beautiful cultural mosaic of our region.
