We have great resources for teachers to utilise thorugh the librariesOur Learning & Discovery librarians love to work closely with local schools.

Junior Collections

All three libraries have great collections of children's items, including books, puzzles, DVDs, console games and talking books.

Please ask our Librarians for suggestions, we are happy to help you find the right level and subjects for your children.

Our Junior Sections include the following collections:

Young Adult Collections

All three libraries have Young Adult Collections and elsewhere in the library are CDs, DVDs and, of course, books that teens are welcome to borrow.  YA members have full access to the rest of the library.

Online Databases are also available for homework research at home or in the libraries - free. (Please note - charges apply for printing in the library.)

Databases for Research and Fun

From homework help, through secondary school and tertiary level, to adult general interest, to health topics, law, funding, scholarships, our databases provide access to a huge range of online resources on just about every topic. 

From home you can access information and have fun while learning.

Databases

Hastings District Libraries subscribe to a wide range of databases, greatly extending our collections. Most are available to use from home - use your library card number for login ID. These include:

  • Britannica Library Edition - has a junior and student level search, as well as the full encyclopedia
  • Languagenut - a fun way for children (and adults) to learn languages through games, songs and books
