Search the Library Catalogue

In the Hastings District Libraries Catalogue you can search and browse the library collections. Once you are logged in you may save item lists, renew items, place holds and see your item due dates.

Log In to My Account

• Click on Log In and enter your full library card number or username in CAPITALS.
• For the password, use your PIN (if you do not know your PIN ask at the library).

Searching

From the Catalogue you can search for the following:

• Items held in all three Hastings District Libraries.
• eBooks and eAudiobooks in our eLibrary.
• Full text articles from many of our subscription databases and many other free access databases. 
• You may need to log in with your library card and PIN.
• Once you have search results, you may shorten the list by setting limits (at the left menu).
• Limit by subject, author, shelf location, format, publication date, location and more.

You can also search across all NZ Library catalogues at the New Zealand Libraries Catalogue.

Displays & Options

Choose how you would like your search results to appear:

• List View
• Thumbnail view

By clicking on the title of the item you will see:

• Location - the library, shelf and call number.
• Availability - if the item is currently available or on loan.
• Summary - what the book is about.
• Excerpts - some titles have an excerpt to read or listen to.
• Create lists of books you want to read some day, have read, favourite authors, topics you are studying etc...
• Log in to save the lists permanently, refer back to them at any time, add to them or edit them.

My Account

Log in to My Account to:

• Renew items online.
• Check for overdues and amounts owing (bills).
• Place holds (reserves).  You may also cancel, suspend, reactivate holds, and change the pickup library location.
• Save lists and add to these.  From a saved list you may place a hold, email text or print the titles, copy, move or delete items from each list.
• Send titles or lists to yourself and others via email.

New Items

There is a "river" of new items on the catalogue home page.

For new items by collection, e.g. Adult Fiction, click on the New Titles link at the left of the catalogue home page.
