We have lots of digital resources to keep kids reading, learning and engaged! To access the fun, you just need your Library Membership card and PIN. If you aren't sure what your PIN is, call us on 871 5000 and we can help you set one up.
We have a big collection of children's eBooks and read out loud eAudiobooks within both our Overdrive and Wheelers collections. These can be read online in a browser, or you can download an App to read or listen to them on your device, like a tablet or smartphone. Here is a quick start guide to the Libby App from Overdrive. Note: Both of these eBook apps also contain young adult and adult reading content.
Story Box is a wonderful collection of children's picture book stories read aloud by well known actors, children's performers or sports people. Suitable for pre-school and primary aged school children, Story Box gets kids excited about reading, inspiring their imaginations, improving their language and literacy skills along the way.
Go to Story Box Library, choose 'Click here for Library barcode login' then select 'Hastings District Libraries' from the library drop down selection, and then enter your library card number.
LOTE is a database of digital books in World Languages, created for children, so they can enjoy books and learn language through storytelling. The platform provides over 1600+ digital books in 50+ languages, together with English translations. New books and languages are released each month.
An easy to navigate kids language resource, with activities and games designed to help kids learn and practice a range of up to 27 languages. Choose from te reo Māori, Tongan, Samoan, Tokelauan, Vagahau Niue, Cook Islands Māori, right through to French, Japanese and more! Just login with your library card number and you will see the password is pre-filled.
An fun interactive online version of the Encyclopædia Britannica, with safe and accurate content for primary age children. Learn through exploring thousands of topics, images and videos - great for school projects! Featuring an interactive World Atlas, and Current News section written appropriately for kids.
