Back by Poop-u-lar Demand - a Bunch of Books About Poos, Farts and Wees

Poos N Farts 2025 2

Aren’t library subject-headings fascinating? Check these ones out for instance:

‘Animal droppings -- Juvenile literature’,
‘Flatulence -- Pictorial works -- Juvenile fiction’
'Flatulence -- Juvenile literature’. ‘Buttocks – Juvenile fiction’

To support  Poos and Farts Storytime Rips Again! we again have a perfect opportunity to highlight relevant titles we have on the subject. While skewed towards kids of course, the most appreciative audience of stories about farts, these books below are for all audiences and age-levels. Anyone with a sense of humour will enjoy them.

In all seriousness however, if you are after some literature on healthy bowel motions, I would suggest a quick discrete search on our catalogue and perhaps seeking a visit to your GP.

Alrighty, on to the books!

Poos n Farts 25 2

First up is, Fart-o-pedia: an illustrated encyclopedia of flatulent facts, gassy gags, and more! by Rip Van Ripperton. A brilliant fact-filled book that every young fart humour lover would be keen on. Ordered in an A-Z fashion and complete with facts, puns and oh so many jokes; the title alone is enticing, come on.

You can find other books on human physiology and the digestive system in the junior non-fiction collection at Dewey decimal number 612.3. At the same Dewey number you'll also find these:

There’s a Zoo in My Poo by Felice Jacka.

It takes guts: how your body turns food into fuel (and poop) by Jennifer Gardy

How poo can save the world: and other cool fuels to power our planet by John Townsend

And there’s always the classic Poo Bum by Stephanie Blake, (also available in te reo Māori – Paraweta translated by Karena Kelly).

Poos n Farts 25 3

And don’t forget Dawn McMillan’s I Need a New Bum series! We have two copies of this available as an e-book, both with Libby and E-platform, as well as a print copies.

Of course if you have a child who enjoys stories about poos and farts and silly things along these lines, and they’re ready to read something a bit meatier you can naturally segue into book series like Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey of Dog Man fame (also available as e-book and e-audiobook on our Libby platform), Andy Griffiths Just! series (Just Tricking, Just Disgusting, etc) and his Bum trilogy.

Once you’ve given some of these a go, you could give Diary of Wimpy Kid (Jeff Kinney) and the Bad Guys (Aaron Blabey) series a try. FYI, the Just! series of eight books, each a collection of short stories a chapter long, could be something to jump to after the allure of I Need a New Bum! has worn off.

Anyway, I digress. Back to interesting books with pictures of poos and farts. Such as, Where’s the Poo? A pooptastic search and find book! This one is actually part of an awesome search and find series, check them all out here: Where’s the poo? series

We have so many pooptacular books in our collections. For a list of all books (including simple picture books) we hold on these topics, head back up to the subject headings at the top of this post and click on your fav. Or have a chat to library staff.
