October Baking Club Update

Last month, members of the baking club got to pore over the amazing selection of beautiful new baking and cook books that have come into the library over the past year. This month, we showed off what we'd made from them. 

It's so much easier to bake from New Zealand cookbooks - all the ingredients are things we recognise and are usually easy to source, and we don't have convert temperatures or measurements. Australian cookbooks are the next best option.

Books that gained the baking club's lick of approval include the beautiful Classic cakes: sponges, teacakes, fruit cakes by Pamela Clark, from the Australian Women's Weekly cookbook series, Baked to perfection: delicious gluten-free recipes with a pinch of science by Katarina Cermelj (highly recommended for gluten-free baking that doesn't taste like gluten-free baking), and Everyday favourites by New Zealander Vanya Insull, creator of VJ cooks.

Annabel Langbein's The Free Range Cook was published to complement her television show in 2010 and is still popular over a decade later. Her "Ultimate Chocolate Cake" is a baking club favourite.

The Baking Club meets on the first Tuesday of every month except January. Next month's meeting is at 10:30 am on the 1st of November and our prompt for the month is to bake something with fruit in it. All welcome. See you there.
