Get in the Mood for Nerdvana

As you know it’s nearly May and that means Nerdvana (May the Fourth Be With You!). The library has a load of cool things happening to appeal to you Star Wars fans, the VR gamers, Anime and Cosplay enthusiasts – you know who you are.

It’s always a popular few days on our library calendar – don’t forget to check out the schedule, there’s a handy little booklet at all three libraries, or you can find out all about it on the library website.

But you can keep the spirit alive all through the year with some of our online library resources. For instance, did you know that you can read Marvel comics online through the Libby app? New to Libby? There are some simple instructions on the library website for how to get started with this massive online collection of e-books, e-magazines and e-audiobooks. All you need is your library card number and password or PIN. Ask our friendly library staff for help if you’re stuck.

Once you’re in, it’s a piece of cake to download and enjoy all the wonders of this collection; Spider-man and Wolverine, Hulk and Ironman, Black Panther and Captain America – all your favourites are there. Manga fans will be well content with the selection on Libby too. Of course, you've already discovered the huge selection of print manga at the library. Now you can enjoy manga every day, wherever you are through Libby.

You may have already had a peek at BeamaFilm, the library’s new streaming service. If you’re into sci-fi or fantasy, you’re in luck. The BeamaFilm collection has a selection of great watches for you. Check out the BeamaFilm link on the website and log in with your library card to discover a nicely curated feast of popular and alternative titles. Once you’re there you’ll soon be spoilt for choice.
